2:00 PM EDT Raman Crystallography, in Theory and in Practice
Register Free >> We will discuss the theory and general application of polarization/orientation (P/O) micro-Raman spectroscopy based on the interdependence of incident electric field, Raman polarizability tensor dictated by the symmetry point group of the crystal, and scattering vector. The method is quite complementary to X-ray diffraction and has been applied to microelectronic and photonic devices and other spatially heterogeneous structures.
This webinar will cover some basic theory regarding the application of polarization selection rules for Raman spectroscopy of solids. In addition, we will present some clear and practical methods for the application of these rules to obtain more information about solid state structure using micro-Raman spectroscopy.

2:00 PM EDT EDITORS' SERIES: FT-IR as a Process Analytical Tool for Process Understanding and Control
Register Free >> This presentation will discuss applications of FT-IR technology in the development and process implementation of chemical processes. Applications will include the impact on quality control, reaction process development and optimization, use of Arrhenius’s law, crystal form monitoring, and fermentation monitoring. Other topics will include benefits to in-situ real-time monitoring such as sampling and lack of other techniques for monitoring. The topics of at-line, on-line and in-line monitoring will also be discussed. Examples will focus mainly on mid-IR spectroscopy but some NIR applications will be included.
