We review the group wavenumbers of the many carbonyl-containing functional groups we have examined this year and discuss how to distinguish these functional groups from each other.

Glitter particles from cosmetics may transfer during personal assaults, and thus glitter may be useful as a forensic tool. In this study, glitter samples were analyzed using ATR–FT-IR in an attempt to develop a characterization scheme to aid in the identification of these particles.

TERS has sub-nanometer spatial resolution and single-molecule sensitivity, making it useful for exploring structure and dynamics at the nanoscale in fields such as biology and electrochemistry.
