Compliance Solutions for Using A-TEEM Spectroscopy in GMP Labs
This event is now available on demand.
Event Overview:
A-TEEM (Absorbance-Transmittance Excitation Emission Matrix) is a spectroscopic technique that can be used to evaluate and fingerprint complex mixtures. This technique combines the selectivity of separation at the speed of spectroscopy, but until now, did not fully meet the needs for GMP lab environments. The A-TEEM Compliance Package is now available from HORIBA and enables A-TEEM to be used in a GMP environment. Discussion points will be around both the pharmaceutical applications of A-TEEM and the details of the compliance package for GMP labs. The compliance package webinar includes discussion on:
The Aqualog A-TEEM spectrometer
IQ/OQ documentation and procedures
EzPAT OPC UA Server for PAT Software control of A-TEEM acquisitions
A-TEEM Direktor multivariate analysis software with A-TEEM specific guided workflow
Key Learning Objectives:
Understand the compliance solutions for A-TEEM acquisitions.
Learn what the compliance solutions for A-TEEM data analysis are.
How A-TEEM is used in GMP Labs for pharmaceutical analysis.
Who Should Attend:
Pharma/Biopharma R&D
Process Chemists/Spectroscopists
PAT Knowledge Masters
Featured Speaker:
Karen E. Gall, Ph.D.
Software Product Manager
HORIBA Instruments
Dr. Karen (Steege) Gall
received her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Rhode Island in 2003 and her Ph.D. in Chemistry and Chemical Biology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in 2008. Her graduate research with Professor Edward Castner at Rutgers focused on studying local solvent environments and aggregation behavior of polymer micelles for drug delivery applications using various steady state and time-resolved fluorescence methods. She also studied the aggregation and binding behavior of a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) called Rilpivirine.
During Dr. Gall’s graduate work, she was hired by HORIBA Scientific as a Fluorescence Applications Scientist. Her role included customer and sales support for fluorescence instrumentation, applications development, and testing of new products. She traveled around the world giving presentations and seminars and teaching researchers, students, and professors how to use fluorescence spectroscopy and apply spectroscopic methods to their work using HORIBA instruments. In 2008, she took on the additional role of the U.S. Product Manager for the surface plasmon resonance imaging (SPRi) product line after HORIBA acquired Genoptics, a French startup company that designed and manufactured SPRi instruments. Dr. Gall worked simultaneously on SPRi and fluorescence products for four years before moving on from SPRi and taking on the role of Fluorescence Software Product Manager in 2012.
Software has always been of great importance to the usability of any instrument according to Karen and she saw, and still sees, vast opportunity to improve and create a great user experience by having fantastic software. In 2014, HORIBA began the development of a new 2-in-1 absorbance and fluorescence spectrometer, now called the Duetta. Dr. Gall led the requirements for a new software platform for Duetta, with both a new architecture and a new user interface, with the help of the outstanding software development team at HORIBA, and all with the focus on software user interface design and usability. EzSpec software now runs on Duetta and is being expanded to other product lines at HORIBA. The Duetta won four different instrumentation awards in its first year of release in 2018, including the Pittcon Gold Award.
Dr. Gall was promoted to Software Product Manager for all of HORIBA Instruments Inc. products in 2022 and is currently working on multiple software projects in Fluorescence, PAT, multivariate analysis, and for optical components, for which she hopes to make vast improvements and help spectroscopists that use HORIBA instruments across many areas of science. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, Mike and their two adventurous kids. Karen likes to be outdoors in her free time: skiing, hiking, and mountain biking with her family.
