Event Overview:
How labs can align digestion workflows and operational goals with greater confidence
Event Overview
Elemental analysis laboratories are under increasing pressure to deliver reliable results across diverse sample types while managing throughput, safety, staffing, and cost constraints. Because digestion plays such a central role in data quality and day-to-day lab performance, many labs are taking a fresh look at whether their current approach still aligns with their operational goals.
This webinar will explore how different digestion strategies support different laboratory needs and how to evaluate the right path with greater confidence, without assuming change has to mean disruption.
Key Learning Objectives
- Understand the role of sample preparation in elemental analysis and how digestion quality influences analytical performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Recognize how sample type and laboratory constraints influence digestion strategy, including throughput, operator time, and cost per analysis.
- Learn the fundamental differences between modern microwave digestion approaches and how they address different laboratory workflows and operational needs.
- Gain practical guidance on selecting a digestion workflow that aligns with specific laboratory applications, sample types, and analytical objectives.
Who Should Attend
- Stakeholders who actively perform elemental analysis by AAS, ICP-OES, and ICP-MS across a wide range of markets, including environmental, food, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, polymer, petrochemical, alloy, mining, and academic applications.
- The webinar is relevant for contract testing laboratories, public laboratories, in-house industrial labs, and academic research facilities, regardless of whether digestion is currently performed using microwave systems or heating blocks.
- Roles/functions may be related to:
- Lab directors
- Lab managers/supervisors
- Researchers
- Chemists/analysts
- Technicians/research assistants
- QC/QA managers

Gianpaolo Rota is a product manager at Milestone. He develops new methods and applications, helping customers use the company’s technology. Currently, he focuses on lab tests, application research, and customer application support for performing microwave digestion and mercury determination. He independently performs research and develops new or modified methods and techniques when standard ones are inadequate.
Rota joined Milestone 20 years ago, focusing on validation procedures. He has also focused on digestion, clean chemistry, and ashing lines. He has installed several Milestone instruments in Italy and all over the world, supplying his support for training and chemical applications. Rota participated in more than 500 seminars held all around the world on sample preparation methods and analytical techniques for each Milestone product line.
