The following is a short overview of what SMASH conference attendees can expect at the Mestrelab User Meeting, which will take place on Sunday September 15th at 1:00 pm EST.
On the first day of the SMASH NMR 2024 Conference, conference attendees arriving early will have the opportunity to attend various user meetings, where they will have the chance to learn more about the latest in NMR instrumentation and the current challenges facing the industry. These meetings will also expose them to some of the latest NMR instruments.
The SMASH Conference brings together experts, suppliers, and academia in the field of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). This year, Burlington, Vermont, will be the host city of SMASH 2024, and all conference activities will be held at the Hotel Champlain Vermont (1,2). The conference will take place from September 15th–18th (1).
On the first day of the conference, September 15th, user meetings will take place throughout the day before the oral sessions kick off on Monday, September 16th. We already highlighted the Bruker User Meeting that will take place on the morning of September 15th from 9:00–12:00 pm EST (1). In this SMASH 2024 conference preview, we discuss Mestrelab Research’s User Meeting later that day (1:00–4:00 pm), offering attendees a preview of what to expect.
The meeting kicks off with an introductory speech from Farrel Borden, who will talk about what is new at Mestrelab, offering a snapshot of their latest work and products (2). The introduction will be followed by two talks, one discussing USP-ID, and the other introducing LOGS. In between both presentations, Mastrelab has scheduled a 20-min customer’s talk delivered by an external speaker (3).
The second half of user meeting will turn its focus to Mestrelab’s Mnova product, which offers many software benefits for NMR experts. Mnova offers a range of tools to streamline and enhance data processing, analysis, and interpretation (3). The product’s key features include the ability to process and analyze NMR data from various spectrometers and vendors (3). Advanced tools such as automatic peak picking, multiplet analysis, chemometrics, and two-dimensional (2D) processing assist users in extracting valuable insights from their data (3).
Mnova also offers interactive and automated tools for structure proposal generation, peak assignment, and validation using experimental data for structural elucidation (3). According to the company, Mnova’s simulation tools helps users understand molecular structures (3).
Automation is another key benefit of Mnova. According to Mestrelab, Mnova’s automation capabilities allow users to create custom workflows, minimizing human error in repetitive tasks and delivering faster, more reliable results (3). The goal of Mnova is to serve as a one-stop shop for analysts, providing NMR experts with a comprehensive toolset that can offer efficiency, accuracy, and reliability when conducting NMR data processing and analysis (3), which is why Mestrelab will focus intently on Mnova in two sessions near the end of the user meeting. The first session, “PlayFID – Making Music with Mnova,” will be delivered by Gavin Shear, and followed by “Ten Things You Didn’t Know You Could Do in Mnova,” which will be led by Mark Dixon and focuses on reinforcing the various capabilities of Mestrelab’s Mnova (3).
