Last month, DialAct Corporation, which is a distributor of advanced technology solutions and instrumentation based in Sunnyvale, California, announced the launch of its new Raman spectroscopy product line. This launch was done in partnership with Elodiz, which is a United Kingdom (UK)-based company that manufactures scientific instruments (1,2). Elodiz. is headquartered in High Wycombe, United Kingdom, and the company’s main objective is to develop Raman and optical sensing instrumentation for research, industrial, and OEM markets (2).

“We’re excited to offer U.S. customers access to a full suite of Raman systems, calibration materials, and accessories designed and engineered by Elodiz,” said Mario Paredes, Sales Representative at DialAct Corporation in a press release (1). “Backed by Elodiz’s technical excellence and our U.S.-based support, we’re able to serve a wide range of scientific and industrial users with systems that are ideal for dedicated QA roles, teaching environments, or expanding analytical capacity without overburdening core systems.”

The Raman spectroscopy market has been rapidly growing over the past decade as more customers and industries are applying Raman spectroscopy instrumentation to solve their industry’s most pressing issues. Raman spectroscopy has been applied in several important industries, including agriculture, environmental analysis, food and beverage analysis, and pharmaceutical analysis, to name a few. Back in 2018, the Raman spectroscopy global market was measured at over $300 million (3). Of that $300 million, portable instrumentation made up most of the Raman spectroscopy market, accounting for 49% of all sales (3).

Since that time, the forecast from 2025 to 2034 suggests that the market size, which currently generates $1.47 billion, will be worth $2.88 billion by 2034 (4). This growth is based on industry projections that Raman spectroscopy will continue to be widely adopted in many industries, with the biggest growth in drug development and research and development activities (4).

This product announcement comes at a time when more instrument manufacturers are entering the Raman spectroscopy market. Since November 2024, Elodiz’s Raman systems are registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in accordance with the Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act of 1968 (1). This registration is important because it allows Elodiz to import and distribute its laser-based spectroscopy systems legally throughout the United States, expanding its consumer base in North America (1).

According to the company, the new Raman systems have several key features including single-, dual-, and triple-laser models at 532 nm and 785 nm (1). The spectrometers also contain compact lite series systems for teaching and field work (1).

Also, according to the company, the Raman spectroscopy systems come with several important support functions. For example, this new series of spectrometers allow for modular and upgradeable configurations, as well as support National Institute of Standards and Technologies (NIST)-traceable calibration materials such as neon, silicon, polystyrene, and calcite (1). The Raman systems also can accommodate THEYA-LED calibrators for wavelength and intensity alignment, as well as a user-friendly SOMPAS software interface for quick setup, intuitive operation, and efficient data acquisition (1).
