In this webinar, thermal analysis expert Krystelle Mafina is joined by Michael Antwi of Wiley Library. Mafina will demonstrate effective failure analysis and reverse engineering methodologies for material QAQC and novel advanced material development using TGA/STA and DSC thermal instrumentation. She will give insights using a commonly used TG-IR hyphenated configuration, and then Antwi will further explain the laboratory workflow advantages to be gained from using reference libraries.

Dr Krystelle Mafina

Dr Krystelle Mafina is a product leader at PerkinElmer, overseeing the thermal (TEA) analysis business. She holds a doctorate in biomedical biomaterials science and is a chartered engineer (CEng) and chartered scientist (CSci) with a strong background in materials science. A member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals, and Mining (IOM3) since 2009 and a committee member since 2019, Mafina is committed to continuous professional development and was recently made “fellow” of the institute. Her blend of scientific knowledge and industry experience makes her a valuable contributor to PerkinElmer and the wider scientific community.

Dr. Michelle D'Souza brings years of insight and knowledge in the area of spectral informatics, with leadership roles at both Wiley and Bio-Rad Laboratories. In addition to her multiple years as a scientific researcher at Abbott (now AbbVie) and DuPont, she holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northern Illinois University and a Master's in Analytical Chemistry from the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine. She earned her BS degree from the Chemistry Department of Beijing University.
