In our second installment of the infrared (IR) spectra of polymers, we finish the discussion of the spectrum of polyethylene (PE) started last time. We explore how different PE syntheses produce materials with different physical and spectroscopic properties, which introduces us to the concept of crystalline splitting and the rest of the story on CH₂ rocking peaks.
