Food Chemist or Food Biochemist

The Department of Food Science and Technology of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University (OSU) http://fst.osu.edu seeks your application to a Food Chemist/ Food Biochemist tenure track faculty position. We seek to advance the science of spectroscopy in foods. Appointment can be an Assistant (tenure eligible) or Associate (tenured) Professor (9 month) commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will advance teaching, research and outreach and have start-up and additional resources unique to strategic hires across the Ohio State Discovery Theme of Foods for Health https://discovery.osu.edu/focus-areas/foods-for-health/. Modern office and laboratory space is provided in the new Parker Food Science and Technology Building on the Columbus campus. 

Successful applicants will supervise an extramurally-funded research program, develop strong relationships and collaborations with the food faculty and the food industry, contribute to teaching (graduate and undergraduate), demonstrate a commitment to the profession through leadership in national and international organizations, and serve university committees and campus networks.

The position strategically connects several hires in Foods for Health and Data Analytics http://discovery.osu.edu/focus-areas/data-analytics/. Applicants for this position must have a Ph.D. degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a closely related discipline specializing in analytical spectroscopy and metabolomics to address contemporary challenges in foods and health. Applicants should have experience in analytical spectroscopy, especially in NMR, and will enjoy full access to the new Campus Chemical Instrument Center (CCIC) high-field NMR center (http://www.ccic.ohio-state.edu/NMR-Instruments) on campus.
