Brian R. Strohmeier is at the forefront of building the 2027 Pittcon program. As President of Pittcon for next year’s show, Strohmeier has valuable insights into what next year’s conference will entail. At Pittcon 2026, we got the opportunity to sit down with him to talk about Pittcon 2027, and why returning to Pittsburgh is in Pittcon’s best strategic interest.
Our first part of our conversation with Strohmeier focuses on the top highlights from Pittcon 2026, which include the 2026 Wallace H. Coulter Keynote Lecture given by Frances Arnold, who was the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Chemistry back in 2018.
In the second part of our conversation with Strohmeier, he highlights the significance of returning Pittcon to Pittsburgh after a 60-year absence. The event, which began in Pittsburgh in 1950 and moved in 1967, is celebrated for its 77-year history. The return is met with great enthusiasm from the staff, committee, and exhibitors, who are excited to participate in the premier scientific conference. As Pittcon’s President for the 2027 conference, Strohmeier aims to create a celebratory atmosphere while maintaining the conference's high scientific standards.
