What is Planned for Pittcon 2027?

In this interview clip, Brian R. Strohmeier, who is serving as the President of Pittcon for 2027, discusses what social events are being planned for the conference.

Excitement is already brewing for Pittcon 2027, which will be taking place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.1 Brian R. Strohmeier, who is Pittcon’s President for 2027, is heavily involved in shaping up the conference’s technical program and social events.

In our multi-part interview with Strohmeier, we asked him multiple questions about Pittcon 2027 to learn more about how the 2027 program is shaping up. In Part 1 of our conversation, we first asked Strohmeier about his thoughts on Pittcon 2026, which include the 2026 Wallace H. Coulter Keynote Lecture given by Frances Arnold, who was the first American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Chemistry back in 2018. Strohmeier mentioned that this was one of the main highlights from the show.

We then shifted our conversation to the 2027 conference. Our second part of our interview with Strohmeier emphasized the excitement of returning to Pittsburgh for the first time in 60 years.2 In the third clip of our interview with Strohmeier, he discusses the expansion of Pittcon’s program to encompass all areas of science, not just pharmaceutical science, bioanalytical, and life sciences. Strohmeier discussed their plans to add a graduate student fair and introduce the Peter Griffiths Award for Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, which will be sponsored by the Society of Applied Spectroscopy (SAS). Strohmeier also stressed that numerous social activities are being planned, including a grand party on the rooftop of the convention center.
