Your Guide to Networking at SciX 2025

The Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS) hosts the SciX Conference annually. This year, the conference will be taking place from October 5–10 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Kentucky (1). SciX is a premier annual conference that brings together researchers, vendors, and industry leaders in analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, instrumentation, and measurement science to exchange insights and explore the latest advancements.

Besides the technical program, which encompasses plenary talks, poster sessions, short courses, and many contributed oral presentations, SciX also has several social events for attendees to enjoy in the evenings during the conference week. These events serve not only as breaks from sessions, but as valuable venues for networking, cross-disciplinary conversations, mentorship, and enjoyment. Below are some of the social highlights attendees can expect at SciX 2025.

One of those planned activities is the SciX gala, which usually takes place the last night of the conference. This year, SciX will be hosting their gala on Thursday October 9, 2025, in the Northern Kentucky Convention Center from 7–10 pm EST. The theme this year is the “Mysteries of Science.” Attendees are encouraged to wear masquerade attire, but it is not required (2).

Another social event that the conference organizers planned this year is the “Flavors of Thought” ice cream social. This event will take place on Tuesday October 7^th from 7:30–9:30 pm at the conference venue. This event will feature Graeter’s Ice Cream and provide attendees to socialize in a more informal session (1).

As part of the program, the SciX Conference organizers also serve boxed lunches in the exhibit hall. This year, this will take place on Tuesday October 7^th and Wednesday October 8^th (1). Because this event merges social interaction in a setting that contains much scientific content, conference attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy lunch with their friends and colleagues while perusing the conference posters on display (1).
