Metrohm's new facility in Plainsboro, New Jersey
IPS is the world’s largest producer of Raman spectroscopy diode-based light components. B&W Tek is a provider of mobile Raman spectroscopy solutions and modular spectrometers. Both companies were acquired by Metrohm in 2018.
The New Jersey office has laboratory space for live demonstrations of instrumentation and hands-on instrument training for up to 70 customers. The facility has ample meeting space equipped with the newest audiovisual solutions that can accommodate in-person, hybrid, or virtual events with customers.
Short Tutorial: Complex-Valued Chemometrics for Composition Analysis
June 16th 2025In this tutorial, Thomas G. Mayerhöfer and Jürgen Popp introduce complex-valued chemometrics as a more physically grounded alternative to traditional intensity-based spectroscopy measurement methods. By incorporating both the real and imaginary parts of the complex refractive index of a sample, this approach preserves phase information and improves linearity with sample analyte concentration. The result is more robust and interpretable multivariate models, especially in systems affected by nonlinear effects or strong solvent and analyte interactions.
Researchers Use Machine Learning and Hyperspectral Imaging to Pinpoint Best Apple Bagging Techniques
June 12th 2025A new study demonstrates that paper bagging significantly enhances Fuji apple quality and appearance. Hyperspectral imaging combined with machine learning offers a powerful, non-destructive method for evaluating fruit grown under different cultivation conditions.
