Spectrum of Perspectives Social Event New at SciX This Year

In this preview of the upcoming 2026 SciX Conference, we highlight a new social event that attendees should consider going to.

Anticipation is building for the upcoming SciX 2026, presented by the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies (FACSS), will take place October 4–9, 2026, at the Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks/Reno, Nevada.1 The annual SciX Conference has a long-running tradition as "The Great Scientific Exchange."1 The conference brings together scientists, researchers, and industry professionals from around the world working in analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, bioanalysis, chemometrics, mass spectrometry, and related fields.1

The SciX program features oral and poster presentations, short courses designed to broaden technical expertise, and a vibrant exhibit hall (October 5–8) showcasing the latest instrumentation, software, and technologies from leading vendors.1 Beyond the technical sessions, SciX emphasizes networking and community-building; to that end, the conference organizers provide attendees opportunities for professional growth, collaboration across academia, industry, and government, and the exchange of research and ideas.

Although the SciX 2026 Conference has numerous opportunities for attendees to network and socialize, FACSS has decided to add to these social opportunities in 2026. For the first time in 2026, the SciX Conference will feature a social event billed as “Spectrum of Perspectives.”

What is “Spectrum of Perspectives” and what is the overall aim of this social event?

“Spectrum of Perspectives” is a dessert social paired with community conversation. The aim of it is to build a more welcoming culture in spectroscopy.2 It includes dessert and informal networking. There will also be a structured discussion focused on the value and benefit of building an inclusive and welcoming culture in spectroscopy.2

The event will take place on Tuesday October 6th from 8:00–9:00 pm. It is billed as a special event; as a result, registration for this event is not automatically included in the registration.2

To register for “Spectrum of Perspectives,” attendees will need to go to the “Registration Enhancements” page on the SciX website and pay $15 to register for the event.2
