Karen Faulds of the University of Strathclyde co-authored a paper where SESORS signals could be detected from nanotags at depths down to 48 mm for the first time using a handheld spatially offset Raman (SORS) instrument. She recently spoke to Spectroscopy about this and some of her other papers and the advances in the science that made them possible. Faulds is the 2022 recipient of the RSC Analytical Division Mid-Career Award. This interview is part of an ongoing series of interviews with the winners of awards that are presented at the annual SciX conference, which will be held this year from October 2 through October 7, in Covington, Kentucky.

Andreas Riedo of the Physics Institute at the University of Bern has won the 2023 Emerging Leader in Atomic Spectroscopy Award, which is presented by Spectroscopy magazine.

Robin F.B. Turner and James M. Piret are the winners of the 2022 William F. Meggers Award, to be presented this fall at the SciX conference.
Lu Wei, an assistant professor of chemistry at the California Institute of Technology, will be presented with the Emerging Leader in Molecular Spectroscopy Award at the SciX 2022 conference.

Martin Zanni, who is the Meloche-Bascom professor of chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is the winner of the 2022 Ellis R. Lippincott Award.

The 2022 Craver Award will be presented to Wei Min at SciX, taking place October 2–7 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Greater Cincinnati.

Rohit Bhargava, the Founder Professor of Bioengineering and a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is the 2022 winner of the Pittsburgh Spectroscopy Award. He will receive the award during a virtual session at Pittcon 2022 on Monday, March 14, that starts at 1:00 pm EST.

Wei Gao, an Assistant Professor of Medical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology, is the 2022 recipient of the Pittsburgh Conference Achievement Award. He will receive the award on Monday, March 14, during a Pittcon 2022 virtual session that starts at 1:00 pm EST.

The Coblentz Society will present the award to Ian R. Lewis during the virtual Pittcon conference taking place March 6–10, 2021.
