Spectroscopy and LCGC North America are proud to announce that Lydia Neguse of The California Academy of Mathematics and Science School in Carson, California, has been named the winner of the 2020 Most Outstanding Female in Chemistry or Chemical Analysis award at the Los Angeles County Science & Engineering Fair.

The New York and New Jersey Regional Section of the Society for Applied Spectroscopy (NYSAS) held an on-line meeting on Wednesday, May 27. The speaker, Nicole Ralbovsky, was selected as the 2020 NY–NJ SAS Graduate Student Award winner. Ralbovsky is a fourth-year doctoral candidate in Igor K. Lednev’s laboratory at the University at Albany, SUNY.

The Ellis R. Lippincott Award will be presented to Ji-Xin Cheng, a professor of biomedical engineering at Boston University, on Tuesday, October 15, at SciX 2019 in Palm Springs, California.

S. Michael Angel, a professor of chemistry at the University of South Carolina (Columbia, South Carolina), will be presented with the Lester W. Strock Award on Tuesday, October 14, at SciX 2019, in Palm Springs, California.

Timothy J. Johnson, a senior research scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), will receive the Society for Applied Spectroscopy (SAS) William F. Meggers Award on Thursday, October 17, at the SciX 2019 conference in Palm Springs, California.

Shawn (Xiaoyun) Chen will be presented with the Coblentz Society Craver Award at SciX 2019 on Thursday, October 17, in Palm Springs, California.

Shachi Mittal and Erika Portero are the 2019 recipients of the FACSS Thomas Hirschfeld Scholar Awards.
