ParticleFinder: Automated Particle Location and Raman Analysis
March 20th 2015ParticleFinder: Locate particles, generate size/shape statistics, select particles based on size/shape, and acquire Raman spectra. Easily locate and identify particulate matter, including pharmaceutical materials, trace forensic evidence, geological rock/mineral particles, and airborne contaminants trapped on filters.
The Moxtek ICE Cube™ Polarizing Beamsplitter
March 20th 2015A broadband polarizing beamsplitter (PBS) cube was developed using embedded Moxtek® Nanowire® grid polarizer technology. The Moxtek ICE Cube™ PBS provides superior performance in broadband, low f/# spectroscopic applications where both high efficiency and excellent contrast are required.
Raman Analysis of Embedded Contaminants
March 18th 2015Raman confocal spectroscopy is increasingly being applied for the analysis of embedded contaminants within materials. A non-contact, non-destructive analysis method, Raman spectroscopy requires very little sample preparation, has greater spatial resolution compared to FT-IR microscopy and the confocal analysis method allows visualization of materials within a clear sample matrix. This paper will investigate the analysis of an embedded contaminant within a polymer matrix on a glass substrate.
Simultaneous Detection of Surface and Bulk Composition of a Magnesium Alloy
March 17th 2015In this note, we examine a magnesium alloy plate to determine the type of anti?corrosion coating present. In the same experiment, the chemistry of the bulk magnesium alloy can also be observed. All data was collected using the ChemReveal® Desktop LIBS Analyzer.
Using Multivariate Curve Resolution to Identify the Evolved Gases Created During a TGA-IR Experiment
September 1st 2014Thermal decomposition provides valuable information about the chemical composition of a material. Although thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) measures small weight losses during a heating ramp, it cannot identify the chemicals corresponding to the weight loss.
Simultaneous Single Reaction Chamber Microwave Digestion of Mixed-Consumer Products
September 1st 2014Milestone's UltraWAVE microwave digestion system with single reaction chamber (SRC) technology, enables the simultaneous digestion of up of to 22 different sample types and chemistries at temperatures and pressures as high as 300 ?C and 199 bar.
Chemical Analysis of Microscopic Fluorescent Materials by Dispersive 1064 Raman System
September 1st 2014Raman measurement on microscopic inclusions in fluorescent materials requires the ability to measure in small volumes, excellent throughput, and long wavelength excitation such as 1064 nm for fluorescence reduction.
Using the Full Spectrum for Raman: From UV to NIR
The "inelastic scattering of light," or Raman effect, was observed in practice for the first time in 1928 by C.V. Raman for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930.
